The day has come that all the Watershed UMC congregation, the leadership of the Texas Annual Conference and South District churches have been praying for: Sunday, May 6th was groundbreaking Day for their new worship facility!
Rev. Matt Neely was called to plant a new church start in League City in 2007 and Clear Lake UMC is the "Mother" Church
Their first worship service was in the first quarter of 2008 at Clear Creek High School.
In December 2009, through the generosity of the South District churches, 11.5 acres of land was purchased. A District Conference voted to pay the interest for three years (2010-2012) and all district churches have been paying a new church/revitalization assessment in order to pay the interest on the loan.
On April 1, 2012, The Watershed Church voted in a Church Conference to move forward and build their new facility at SH-96 and Louisiana Street.
Weather permitting they will begin to worship in their new building in December 2012.
Praise God from Whom all Blessings Flow!

Approximately 120 South District clergy, local church delegates and district delegates met at Gateway Community UMC on May 8th.
Rev. B. T. Williamson, Assistant to the Bishop, Rev. Gail Ford Smith, Director of Clergy Excellence, and Stephanie Griffin, the newly appointed Conference Lay Delegate, presented materials and handouts for the June 4-7th Annual Conference to be held at the Galveston Convention Center.
Rev. Williamson guided everyone through the Preconference Journal (PCJ) and shared other pertinent information which is listed below. The handouts are at the bottom of this article and may be viewed and printed.
The Conference begins on Monday to allow Sunday as travel time for those clergy and laity living in the northern area of the Conference. Registration is on Monday at the Galveston Convention Center from 2 pm to 6 pm and on Tuesday from 8 am to 6 pm. (See page 4 of the PCJ for additional information.)
The floorplan on page 4 of the PCJ is incorrect and has been replaced with Handout # 4
A preliminary agenda is on pages 29-30 of PCJ
The Preliminary Consent Calendar on pages 35-37 (PCJ) is a list of reports that can be approved in one motion rather than separate motions for each item. Any one item can be pulled off the consent calendar by a request made when the Consent Calendar is presented. Any clergy or delegate may make a request. No vote is required when a request is made.
Please read over the reports and resolutions so you will be ready to discuss or vote.
Dress code is "business casual" - no ties or suits, etc. Look for an email with more info on what is considered "business casual."
We are looking forward to seeing you all at Annual Conference!

Clergy and their families are invited to gather at the Log Cabin of Pasadena First United Methodist Church for food, fun and fellowship for the 2012 District Picnic. The address is 1062 Fairmont Pkwy, Pasadena 77504. The Log Cabin is located in the rear parking lot of the Church and is an enclosed and air conditioned facility, so it will be a picnic "out of the heat" and with "no bugs." What luxury!
Newly appointed clergy will be introduced to the South District clergy family.
Hamburgers, hotdogs and all the fixings will be served at 6:30 pm. Everything will be provided by the District - all you need to do is come and enjoy!
There will be a "Jungle Combo Moonwalk" and fun activities for the children.
