Annual Conference Response to Oklahoma Tornadoes

A link to a letter from Rev. Diane McGehee, our Director of Missional Excellence, regarding our response to the deadly storms of May 20th is at the end of this article. I know that you and I have been keeping in our prayers those who have been so deeply affected by these disasters. Now we have the chance to lead others in responding tangibly. May our deeds and words and prayers all seek to provide relief to those so deeply saddened. Please join me in this prayer:

"Dear Lord, our hearts are deeply troubled by the pain being experienced by so many in the wake of these deadly storms. We do not pretend to understand the place of such random suffering. However, we are clear on your mandate for us to reach out to those in need. Guide us to be vessels of mercy, grace, peace, and encouragement to those who are reeling from disaster. May our resources, compassion, and prayers be used in ministry to others. Let your Holy Spirit speak words of encouragement through us. All these things we pray in the glorious and merciful name of Jesus Christ." Amen.

The Academy for Lay Leadership Initiative will develop laity in their callings (as they serve their local church) so they will have a more fruitful ministry in transforming lives and communities. (Recommendation by Sr. Pastor is required)

2013 Summer Camp - June 17 thru June 21

WHY SHOULD I SEND MY KIDS TO CAMP?

Christians make Christians. Most everyone who has ever come to accept Jesus Christ into their hearts and lives did so, not so much because of a something but a someone. District camp is designed to connect kids to Jesus Christ through interaction with other Christians. At best, the local church has an hour or two a week to capture the hearts of young people in the local church, but at camp, there is well over 100 hrs full of opportunities.
